Phase One has ended!

Phase One of the Ruckingenur Challenge has come to an end! If you haven’t emailed me your submission yet, get it to me as soon as possible. I will begin collating the eight entries I received tomorrow after work; we should have a winner within the next few days. In the meantime, start reading up on Lua if you’re interesting in programming a level for Phase Two of the Ruckingenur Challenge.

For anyone trying to make that awesome graphics effect found in Ruckingenur, I think I’ve figured out how to do it decently in Photoshop CS3. To start with, resize the image to 50%. Then Save For Web as a restrictive color GIF, 28 or so colors, "pattern dither", and resizing up 200%. For an even more dramatic effect, instead of resizing to 50%, resize smaller like 25% or whatever.

I’ll be releasing official Ruckingenur design specs in the next few days, when I formally release a beta of the editor. This will include information about how to script levels and how to create graphics that compliment the rest of the game.
