CoAE on Kongregate

I’ve uploaded The Codex of Alchemical Engineering to Kongregate; you can play it here. One neat thing that the Kongregate version has that this does not is achievements, which for now are limited to the total number of symbols used for each level and the total running time for each level. If you’re interested in getting your competitive Alchemy skills on, head over to Kongregate and kick some ass.

Great game man! I’m having a lot of fun trying to streamline the logical processes to be as efficient as possible.
Looks like you had a good launch on Kong too, with over 35,000 plays in just several days. Congratulations.

Hi. I found Codex while flipping through on Kong and followed to your site, which is really awsome by the way. Also Codex is on the front page.

hey i have a good idea. for where you put the programming in, there should be another column to the right of it that u can put things in. that way, you can move 2 atoms joined together, sday to the right, and at the same time turn it. i know my idea is pretty vague, but its a start. i hope it helps.

Also, as of my posting, you have a 4.7/5 on Jayisgames

If you really want to have achievements for Kongregate, you should have proper achievements in-game, rather than the current system of hi-scores.

Oh, and GDorn, the bug doesn’t show for me. On mine, the second big set crashes into the first.

As of yet, not many achievements on the Kongregate release of this game. However, I noticed it was changed from 1.03 to 1.04, do you have a change log? I’d like to know what you changed.

Scratch that, you posted it on the Kongregate release, I’m glad to hear you fixed that, it was the only really troublesome thing for the most part.

I really enjoy this game, great job!
I have a question about the brimstone level on the Kongregate version – is the save below not a valid solution? Its not efficient at all, but I’m just wondering why the final molecule will not be accepted as valid?
    Thanks!

Jay: When your solution is placed in the target circle, there is an atom from another compound in the circle at the same time. This will prevent your solution compound from being recognized and accepted.

Amazing game. The final level was good. And the music really adds to it.
One typo: when two atoms collide, the correct spelling is "explosion".
Have you thought of adding sound effects to the running of the game? Maybe only on the highlighted manipulator…

Maddeningly entertaining game you’ve created here; thanks for posting it!
I seem to have run into an intermittent bug in the collision detection engine which is giving me lots of trouble on level 14, the Philosopher’s Stone. (Version is 1.0.4 on Kongregate, if that matters.) I think an easy fix would just be to make it so two atoms which are bound can never trigger a collision.
The following machine (yeah, I know it’s inefficient, but it’s *mine* and I *like it*) fails before reaching 5 molecules built. It always fails on the final lifting stage, moving the completed molecule into the drop zone. Sometimes it fails on the first life, sometimes the second, sometimes the fifth and final lift, but always it fails to complete, even though the machine appears valid:

    C’mon, make a XVIth Level;)
    XV was way too easy.
I am still missing ‘Alcahest’ as a level name, btw 😉

Well deserving of it too, if you ask me.
    But nobody did. Oh well.

Another Idea I’d like to see is to be able to rotate and combine the Components (especialy the Binder).

I have been listening to the music alone for the past hour or so. I love it. I want to buy the soundtrack. Now I’m going to go look at the game part.

I loved this game, but I was thinking, couldn’t you make an editor for it? It doesn’t seem too complicated, maybe 1 more page of components.
